Major System Improvements

NEO Free and NEO Pro - same product base Previously when evaluating our NEO products users had to download, install and create separate NEO Catalogs for each product. We've made the evaluation process much simpler and much faster.NEO Free users wanting to try NEO Pro can now simply switch to NEO Pro from within NEO Free (and NEO Pro users can also switch to NEO Free) without having to download, install or create a new catalog. NEO Free and NEO Pro are the same product. In fact, NEO Free is really NEO Pro running in NEO Free mode - the Pro features are simply hidden.Minor ImprovementsCosmeticsSeparator lines in the List Pane.'Open Contact' renamed to 'Create/Open Contact'.Clear icon changed to 'Clear' and easier to click.Improved and prettier display of informatory messages in Reading Pane.Filter toolbar moved to bottom for new users.Sent Message - New column name and iconIn previous versions, messages from you are identified in the List Pane 'To' column with the word "To:". To avoid confusion with Outlook's To column, this column has been renamed to 'Sent Message' and 'To:' has been replaced by an easy to spot image.Times in the Date/Time column for old absolute datesAll values in the Date/Time column now show the time in addition to the date.Spam folder exclusion renamed to Excluded foldersMany users like to exclude from NEO organization folders other than Spam folders. To accommodate this, we have renamed this ability from 'Spam folders' to 'Excluded folders'. Note that you can also now search in Excluded folders.SimplificationsSimpler startup options for new users and removed the Pending Correspondent distinction.Check for Updates on Startup optionMany users like to be notified as soon as a new release or build is available. This optional feature automatically checks for new program updates on startup and notifies you if there is an update available.Issues AddressedMessage direction issue when sending messages to selfIn instances where users sent messages to themselves from external systems (e.g., from mobile devices) the direction of the message (Sent vs Received) was sometimes not properly set in NEO. This has been corrected.Re-installation remembers last folder locationThe NEO installation program now remembers the folder location you last installed NEO into.Several defects fixedImproved synchronization with Cached Exchange Mode and offline storesPreviously when working in Cached Exchange Mode in a Connected state and the network connection becomes unavailable, both event-driven synchronization and user-initiated synchronization would report error 80040115 (Network error), and NEO would need to be restarted in order to synchronize with Outlook. This has been fixed.Previously, in some OST and Cached Exchange Mode environments, NEO would display “phantom” duplicates when messages were moved, deleted or sent, and it was necessary to do a full synchronize to remove these phantom duplicates. NEO no longer creates phantom duplicates in these situations.Improved searchingImproved accuracy in indexing messages. NEO had depended on text returned by Outlook which sometimes combined two words into a single word and did not support multiple character sets in a single message.Better international language support – including improvements in converting from multiple character sets to Unicode, detection of ideograms, handling of Ababic tatweel and Hangul filler characters, and recognition of special text-formatting characters such as soft-hyphens, text-direction indicators and ligature indicators.Fixed problem with NEO not returning all messages when wild cards or match similar words were used with phrases or the NEAR operator.Improved Reading Pane displayFixed problems with displaying HTML messages that contain multiple character sets. Click on Neo Free 3.1 in the side bar for full details.Fixed problems with displaying plain-text messages with a character set that is different from the system default character set.
